How To Unlock Wii Console

I´d like to teach you how to unlock your wii console:

  • First step is to install the The Homebrew Channel.
The Homebrew Channel is a channel for launching Wii homebrew applications. It will list homebrew applications stored and organised on an SD card or USB mass storage device in a nice little GUI, which you can very easily customise with descriptions and shiny little icons all by yourself. You can also launch applications via TCP (with a correctly configured PC) or a USBGecko. Both of those built in options make it extremely convenient for testing out new code, as well as a general purpose homebrew launcher.

  • Second step is to install the BootMii.
BootMii is a piece of software that can be installed as an IOS or inserted into the boot process. As an IOS, it provides a fast way to back up your Wii's internal NAND flash memory, and will eventually form the basis of a new generation of homebrew applications for the Wii. Inserted into the boot process, BootMii provides you with a "safety net" -- you can back up your entire Wii to SD in under three minutes! If you were to brick your Wii, BootMii would still run and let you restore your backup from SD, quickly and painlessly. BootMii also allows you to directly boot The Homebrew Channel or other homebrew from SD, bypassing the "warning screen" and the rest of the menu.

  • Third Step is to remove and install the modified IOS.
IOS is a somewhat unique system in that many games use (and come with) their own version of the IOS, though many games use the same IOS versions. There is no "true" version of the operating system, instead there are many of what could be called "slots" for different versions of IOS to sit in. IOS versions are not aware of each other, and are not used or invoked at all unless software specifically requests to run using them. In this way it can be considered "safe" to install custom IOS modules, or to patch any IOS module so long as it is not used by the system menu, as if it becomes corrupt it can be deleted and replaced without damaging the system as a whole.
